The AIPS-98 Planning Competition
نویسندگان
چکیده
was invited to take part in the first planning competition, hosted by the Artificial Intelligence Planning Systems Conference, to provide a new impetus for empirical evaluation and direct comparison of automatic domain-independent planning systems. This article describes the systems that competed in the event, examines the results, and considers some of the implications for the future of the field.

AIPS’00: Planning Competition The Fifth International Conference on Artificial Intelligence Planning and Scheduling Systems
part of the biennial Artificial Intelligence Planning and Scheduling (AIPS) conferences. AIPS’98 featured the very first competition, and for AIPS’00, we built on this foundation to run the second competition. The 2000 competition featured a much larger group of participants and a wide variety of different approaches to planning. Some of these approaches were refinements of known techniques, an...
متن کاملOn the Complexity of Planning in Transportation Domains
The efficiency of AI planning systems is usually evaluated empirically. The planning domains used in the competitions of the 1998 and 2000 AIPS conferences are of particular importance in this context. Many of these domains share a common theme of transporting portables, making use of mobiles traversing a map of locations and roads. In this contribution, we embed these benchmarks into a wellstr...
متن کاملThe FAR-OFF System: A Heuristic Search Case-Based Planning
This paper presents a case-based planning system, called FAR-OFF, as an alternative approach to heuristic search generative planners, like HSP and FF. The FAR-OFF system introduces the use of a new similarity metric, called ADG (Action Distance-Guided), that is more accurate than other similarity metrics, and it also incorporates techniques to decrease the retrieval time, like the Footprint-bas...
متن کاملThe 3rd International Planning Competition: Results and Analysis
This paper reports the outcome of the third in the series of biennial international planning competitions, held in association with the International Conference on AI Planning and Scheduling (AIPS) in 2002. In addition to describing the domains, the planners and the objectives of the competition, the paper includes analysis of the results. The results are analysed from several perspectives, in ...
متن کاملDecomposition in Task Based Multi-Agent Planning Systems
We discuss a general framework for coordinating self-interested agents in the pre-planning phase that can be used to decompose multi-agent task based planning problems into independent subproblems. The decomposition allows the agents to solve their part of the problem without the need to interact with other agents and such that the resulting plans can be easily combined into a joint plan. We il...
